Playground Assistant Appreciation

Woodbury playground assistants hold one of the most difficult positions at our school. They ensure the safety of our large student body and are expected to take the LEAD by modeling the school values we emphasize with our students. They are truly LEADers on the playground, as well as in the community. Often, their job requires them to have eyes in the back of their head, multi-task, and practice unbelievable patience. Within any given day they are the first aid responder, mediator, social skills counselor, and parent to hundreds. Students rely on their many areas of expertise and count on them to guide them daily.

Woodbury playground assistants are trained to-

  • Circulate at all times
  • Arbitrate in the case of disputes
  • Regulate the flow of traffic, the speed at which students are traveling, and conduct of children under your supervision
  • Emulate the standards of fairness and equality at all times.

Most often, our playground assistants’ deeds go unnoticed and appreciation is slow to be expressed. Let’s not make that mistake, please take time to recognize these invaluable school employees with a kind word or thank you note expressing your gratitude for the contributions they make on the lives of our students.
