Mustang Express Introduction
The Mustang Express is our weekly newsletter, sent out every Friday except before a school break. It is full of important updates and helpful information to keep you connected to what is happening at Woodbury. Toward the bottom of each edition, you will also find a dedicated section highlighting PTA events and volunteer opportunities. Be sure to check it each week so you do not miss out on upcoming events and ways to get involved!

First Day of School and Line-Up
Students in grades one through sixth should report to the playground blacktop and line up behind their teacher’s name. Please click here for the line-up map. Kindergarten students should liken up outside of their assigned classroom door. PK teachers will share specific directions with families in their welcome email. Parents may not enter the school building and must remain outside.

Dismissal Procedures
At dismissal time, parents may wait outside the classroom doors beginning 5 minutes before school is out. Students in grades PK-2 will be dismissed directly to parents/guardians from the classroom door or a designated dismissal location. 3-6 grade students will be dismissed from the classroom and allowed to walk/bike home or meet their parent/guardian. Because class is still in session for upper grades when our primary students are dismissed, except on Wednesdays, we ask that parents do not wait or congregate on campus. For safety reasons, we ask that families pick up primary-grade students and wait at the front of the school or at the lunch tables.  Upper-grade classrooms often have PE or activities on the playground prior to dismissal.  Younger siblings are not permitted to play on the blacktop, handball courts, or playground equipment when waiting for upper-grade students to be dismissed.

Parent Square App
Woodbury and IUSD use ParentSquare as our communication platform to help keep families connected to the school and district. ParentSquare is a secure, all-in-one tool that allows you to receive important updates, announcements, and reminders from teachers and staff by email, text message, or through the app. To ensure you receive all communications, please make sure your contact information is current in the IUSD Parent Portal. We also encourage you to activate your ParentSquare account, download the mobile app for real-time updates, and update your language preferences so messages arrive in your preferred language. For additional support, visit bit.ly/ParentSquareSupport.

Woodbury Yearly Student Data Confirmation
You should have received an email requesting that you complete and update information online. Please visit your Parent Portal Account at www.myiusd.org and complete the student data confirmation. Your yearly data confirmation provides important health and safety information so that we can provide the best care for your student. Click here for instructions.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Back-to-School Orientation
Pre-Kindergarten will be holding a Meet & Greet and Back-to-School Orientation on Monday, July 21st, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the MPR. On the first day of school, the kindergarten teachers and Mrs. Snyder will conduct a Kindergarten Back-to-School Orientation meeting in the MPR at 8:30 a.m. for AM parents and 12:00 p.m. for PM parents.

IPSF ACE Summer Session
Register for Afterschool Classes! Looking for activities to keep your child engaged and learning while having fun after the school day? The next session of IPSF’s ACE program is coming soon, offering our students hands-on opportunities to explore interests and discover new passions. Classes are held in-person, directly after school on our campus beginning August 5, 2025. For more information on classes offered, and to register, visit: https://ipsf.net/wp-content/uploads/ACE-Flyer-Woodbury.pdf

On-Campus Volunteers
Woodbury welcomes and values our volunteer parents. Without volunteers, many programs and activities offered at our school would not be possible. Parents will be given opportunities to sign up to help in the classroom and to assist with various events taking place throughout the school year. In the interest of safety, we ask that all volunteers report to the office to sign in through our automated computer system. At that time, volunteers will be issued a badge to wear, indicating to the students and staff that they are authorized to be on campus. The volunteer badge must be worn at all times when they are on school grounds. To complete the volunteer application, click here.

Classroom Supply Lists
The Classroom Supply Lists are now available on the Woodbury website: https://woodbury.iusd.org/about/supply-lists. Each list includes a suggested donation to help support our school. Please note, contributions are voluntary, and all students will be allowed to participate regardless of whether a donation is made. Your generosity is always appreciated.

Nutrition Services Information/Free and Reduced Lunch Price Applications
Meals for IUSD students during the 2025-26 school year will be free. Pre-K and Kindergarten will also be included in our snack program.

If you wish for your child to be able to purchase additional food items from the cafeteria, you can make lunch money deposits through the front office into your child’s account, please drop off the check or money in the office before 9:30 a.m. You can also make deposits through the online system, LINQ Connect

To ensure that your child receives the additional benefits for which your family may qualify, please submit a Free or Reduced-Price Meal Application for this school year as soon as possible.

  • Parents who are certain that their students do not qualify are not required to submit an application.  All IUSD students will still receive free meals this year.

  • Parents who have already received a letter notifying them that their students are qualified for free or reduced-price meals do not need an application.

Student Safety
Arrival and dismissal can be busy times at any elementary school, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work together to keep things running smoothly. To support a safe and efficient process, we’ve established specific guidelines for drop-off, pick-up, and parking in collaboration with the Irvine Police Department and the City of Irvine. Please take a moment to review the Parent Handbook on our website for more detailed information. Your cooperation helps ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all of our students and families.

Operation School Bell Program
Assistance League® of Irvine is starting our annual Operation School Bell Program, which provides new school clothes, shoes, and backpacks to income-qualified IUSD families. To learn more about this program and fill out the online, fillable OSB Application, click here!

Child Care Inquiries
The City of Irvine provides resources and referrals for Irvine families looking for child care, whether it’s for an elementary-age child, preschooler, infant, or toddler.  In addition to the Catalyst Kids, we have here on-site at Woodbury, the City of Irvine can provide information on many other resources, including financial assistance for child care, transportation options for school-age children (to allow access to a greater number of after-school options), family child care providers, child care for younger siblings, etc.  For inquiries, please contact the City of Irvine Child Care Resource and Referral line at 949-724-6632.
