College & Career Exploration

Hello Parents and Families,

Talking to our students about their future is so important. It gives them the opportunity to  begin thinking about their possibilities and ties what they are learning to bigger ideas.

There are so many ways to plant that seed and it can be as easy as asking, "what do you want to be when you grow up?"  Or, what type of work clothes do you want to wear? (This helps to see the type of work environment your child envisions them self in if they don't know what type of work they would like to do.) What is most important is letting them know that you support them on their journey to becoming a successful adult.

There are several resources on the internet that help with college and career exploration and preparation.

Here are some I have found most helpful.

Paying for College

Paying for college is always a big concern for families. However, it is important to know that your child can start earning scholarships savings money beginning as early as kindergarten!

The more your child applies for, the more they have the opportunity to earn and save. A good practice to begin is having your child apply for at least one they are eligible for per year. This can be done over breaks or in their free time. It can be a great learning opportunity and way to grow. Remember, to always keep it in moderation. We want our students to be excited about earning money for their future!
